In last week’s theme, we talked about disobedience and how it can have an impact on our destinies. And yesterday, we also talked about how disobedience was the same as rebellion, which the bible refers to as like the sin of witchcraft.
“If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 1:19-20 NKJV
There is always a reward for obedience.
God was saying to Israel as He is saying to you today; if you are willing to follow my ways and commit to obeying my word, you will live in prosperity in the land of your inheritance. However, if you refuse my words and rebel against me, disastrous consequences are inevitable.
There is life in obedience and death and destruction is in disobedience.
Deuteronomy 30:15-20 takes us further into the mind of God on this:
15″Look! I have set before you today life and prosperity on the one hand, and death and disaster on the other.
16What I am commanding you today is to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to obey his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances. Then you will live and become numerous and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are about to possess.
17However, if you turn aside and do not obey, but are lured away to worship and serve other gods, 18I declare to you this very day that you will certainly perish! You will not extend your time in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
19Today I invoke heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set life and death, blessing and curse, before you. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live!
20I also call on you to love the LORD your God, to obey him and be loyal to him, for he gives you life and enables you to live continually in the land the LORD promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.“
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land.
