“You are loosed from your infirmities”

Scripture For Meditation —John 11:41-44; Ps 90:13-17

Take Off Those Graveclothes!

How many born again children of God do you know who suffer from any one of the following challenges — Sin, curses, sickness, persistent lack, debt, lack of direction, joblessness, barrenness, addictions, cycle of defeat or discouragement to name just a few?

Maybe the answer for you is even closer home than it is for others?

The verse of scripture below, from the text we’ve been meditating on says a lot about this.

Joh 11:44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lazarus had been resurrected from the dead, but he came out bound. His hands were bound, his feet were bound and his face was covered with graveclothes!

These Graveclothes Don’t Fit You Anymore!

Dear friend, do you have any graveclothes that may have been wrapped around you that are keeping you bound in one way or the other?

Can you identify them so they can be dealt with for you to fulfil your destiny? They don’t belong on you anymore!

Bound Hands

Let’s look at the first part of Lazarus’s person that was bound by the graveclothes — his hands.

A person’s hands symbolically represent his vigour; it is with our hands that we work and perform our tasks that put food on the table, keep clothes on our back and keep a roof over our heads. It is with our hands that we nurture, care and protect ourselves and our family.

It is also our hands that we lift up in worship and in praise to God. It is with your hands that you bring your offering of thanksgiving to God.

When your hands are bound, you are hindered and disabled. The works of your hands seem to be consistently under attack; you work so hard for little gain, you just do not seem to be able to get the reward for the work that your hands have done, you are unable to do the things that are necessary for you to accomplish God’s purpose for your life and to fulfil your destiny, even though you have been delivered from death to life!

Precious child of God, this ought not to be so!

God has given the command to loose you from those graveclothes and to break the bonds off your hands as we fast and pray in this season! He will strengthen your hands and cause the works of your hands to begin to prosper miraculously in Jesus’s Name.

Prayer Focus

Let this be your confession as you cry out to the Lord in prayers today!

My hands will no longer be bound and disabled; they are loosed to praise; they are free to worship; they are released to work and to prosper in everything that God will cause me to set my hands upon from this day; the work of my hands are blessed and will no longer be under the curse of toil and hardship without reward in Jesus’s Name.

Pray also like the Psalmist did in the following verses:

Psa 90:13 Return, O LORD! How long? And have compassion on Your servants.

Psa 90:14 Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!

Psa 90:15 Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil.

Psa 90:16 Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children.

Psa 90:17 And let the beauty (favour) of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.
