“You are loosed from your infirmities”
Scripture For Meditation — Jer 33:3; Eph 3:20
20-20 Vision
As Christians, we have possibly at different times in our walk with God, quoted the bible verses in Habakkuk about vision that we meditated on yesterday — “write it down, make it plain, wait for it”!
But what really is vision?
The immediate thing that we will think about rightly, is that it pertains to our visual abilities or senses. So we can say that vision is the ability to see, or as a dictionary definition puts it,
“it is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom.”
But then, in the context of the scripture that we were meditating on, it goes much farther than that.
In the text, vision is defined by the word “Perceive”, which is:
• The ability to see beyond what is seen in the physical present
• A perception beyond the normal experiences.
• To see something that is not physically present.
• A revelation, or understanding that transcends our normal cognitive abilities
The bible tells us that one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is to tell or show us things that are to come (John 16:13-15; 1Cor 2:9-10); friend, it is God’s will and desire for you to know His purpose for your life!
And that’s the thing about the “vision” that we are talking about — it is not the lofty ambitions or grandiose desires of what we hope to achieve, or the carefully laid out strategies or “game plan” to accomplish the grand design for our lives; rather, it is the God-breathed, Holy Spirit inspired revelation of the heart of God, concerning His plans and purposes for our lives in the season that we are in.
As we wait on the Lord this week, we are positioning ourselves as Habakkuk did, to hear what God will say to us; to see what He will show us concerning the year that we are about to enter into, and indeed, the new decade!
Prayer Focus
I’ll like us to recall one of the definitions of vision that was mentioned earlier:
“it is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom.”
Start by praying that God will give you clarity of thought and the working of the mind of Christ in you, first to receive His plans for your life, and also to understand what He is saying to you or showing you.
Ask God to give you the capacity to see beyond what is present in the physical. Call upon Him; ask Him to show you those things that you need to know, in order for you to do the things that He wants you to do.
Pray that He will give you the ability to perceive His plans for the year, beyond your normal experiences.
Pray that as He has removed the graveclothes that covered your face, He will remove every limitation in your thoughts and influence your imaginations for your future by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Pray that God will give you the wisdom to plan, and the strategies to execute those plans according to the pattern that He will show you.
Let’s also spend some time to pray the same prayers for the church.
Shalom,
