Behind The Scenes
Scriptures For Meditation — Ex 3:6-10; Ex 2:23-25
Our first scripture text that we are meditating on today, is a continuation of the text that we read yesterday.
Following Moses’ encounter and dialogue with God on Mount Horeb, God declared His plans concerning the deliverance of the children of Israel from the bondage of slavery in Egypt.
A God Who Sees
Have you ever gone through a rough patch or experienced a tough situation where you have wondered if God saw your pain or even remembered you at all?
Can you imagine how the Israelites might have felt after being held in captivity for close to 430 years; can you imagine just how many generations have known nothing else about their heritage but the servitude of slavery?
And on a smaller scale, in the case of Moses at this time, he had been on his own personal wilderness journey of 40 years. He probably thought of himself as the man that time forgot!
When Moses woke up that day, as far as he knew, it was going to be just like any other day he had experienced over the last 40 years that he had been in the wilderness; Same mountain, same route, same routine, a normal day in the life of a simple shepherd; or so he thought!
He sure didn’t bargain for God to interrupt his “normal” in a spectacular way unannounced, and completely change the course of his life.
Friend, even when it looks like nothing is happening; when it seems like God had forgotten you; when you think that He’s not got you on His mind, He can show up on the scene and declare His awesome majesty in your life, in that situation.
God is at work on your behalf, behind the scene!
God is at work on your behalf, behind the scene!
As we sing in that song:
“Right now, God is, working it out, working it out, God is working it out, right now”!
A God Who Knows…
Hear what God Said to Moses:
Exo 3:7 And the LORD said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
Exo 3:8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
Exo 3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
Exo 3:10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
• God saw them in their affliction
• God heard their cry
• He knew their sorrows
Earlier on in Exodus 2:23-25, the bible also tells us how their plight was not unknown to God:
• They cried out because of their bondage
• God Heard
• God Remembered
• God Saw
• God Responded by sending a deliverer to them, to bring them out of Egypt.
PRAYER FOCUS
• Let’s start by reading Psalm 77:1-20
• Let’s cry out to God in faith today; let’s pray that He will open a book of remembrance for us
• Let’s petition Him to look and note the affliction, the oppression, the injustice that we are suffering in our lives or that we have suffered and come to our defence and rescue us.
• Pray for God to send deliverance so our destinies can be liberated from the shackles of the enemy.
• Let’s pray for divine intervention in areas of our lives where we need God to show up.
• Let’s pray for more of God’s presence in our lives; that we will have divine encounters with God as we wait on Him in Jesus’s Name.
