Declaring and Claiming His Promises

Scriptures For Meditation — Ex 23:25; Matt 8:14-17

As the people of Israel prepared to settle in Canaan, God gave them a series of laws and ordinances that they were to live by, and which would regulate their ways of life.

Together with these statutes, God also made so many promises to them, one of which was to provide them with the blessing of divine health.

Exo 23:25 “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

In another scripture, he categorically promised them that if they obeyed his commandments and served Him diligently, He would shield them and make them immune to any of the diseases that their Egyptian taskmasters suffered from.

And the LORD will protect you from all sickness. He will not let you suffer from the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all your enemies! (Dt 7:15 NLT)

This promise of divine health that God made to His people, is indeed a very pertinent and appropriate promise for us to claim in these times that we are in.

As the nations of the world begin to slowly open up their borders to allow the free flow of people in and out, and steps are being taken to restore some sort of normalcy to social gatherings.

With schools being mandated to resume in the coming weeks, many parents look at the portend from the News they are being fed about the virus, and may be anxious about their children going back to school in this climate.

Very few can categorically say with any degree of certainty, what we are to expect in terms of the possible spread or hopeful containment of the virus.

But there is One who knows — The Omniscient and Omnipotent One. Hallelujah!

As good as this Old Testament promise was to the people of Israel, we New Testament believers have a better promise based on a better covenant secured by the blood of Jesus Christ concerning our health.

The bible tells us that Jesus already bore our sicknesses upon Himself on the cross and paid the price in full for us to walk in divine health and to protect us from every attack on our health.

Prayer Focus

Our prayer Focus for this first day of our fasting is for the children that are returning to school.

Let’s petition God concerning their safety and security from the virus.

Let’s pray for God’s covering over the nations and their children, that the devourer will not use the virus as an occasion to take the lives of these children or to afflict them in any way.

Let’s plead the blood of Jesus over the schools and that God’s presence will overshadow them and keep the angels of death away.

Let’s pray specifically for our children, for God to keep them as the apple of His eyes and cause His glory to be a shield of protection around them.

We declare in the name of Jesus, that the Lord will keep sicknesses, diseases and death away from our households in Jesus’s Name. Amen.
